Airbus has begun early-stage exploration of double-decker seating in collaboration with startup Chaise Longue. Initially designed for economy class, this concept aims to increase passenger space without reducing aircraft capacity.

The design allows lower-level seats to offer more legroom, while upper-level seats provide a more open and spacious experience. In addition to economy, Chaise Longue has introduced a premium cabin concept featuring stacked business and first-class suites that enhance privacy and comfort.

Myles Corey, founder of Spaero, added: “If this concept takes off, it could redefine passenger comfort while maintaining airline efficiency. The challenge will be balancing innovation with practicality, but if Airbus is on board, it’s an idea worth watching.”
