American Airlines have plenty to celebrate. Their latest figures show an incredible 8.4 million passengers transported between the U.S. and Europe from November 2023 to November 2024, ranking them third after Delta and United. Operating 51 routes with an 82% load factor, its busiest routes are centred at London Heathrow.

Dallas/Fort Worth to London Heathrow saw 645,000 passengers, making it American Airlines’ busiest transatlantic route. New York JFK to London Heathrow followed with 573,000 passengers, while Charlotte to London Heathrow recorded 487,000 passengers.

New routes in 2024, including Dallas/Fort Worth to Barcelona and Philadelphia to Nice, contributed to its growth. Seasonal routes like Chicago O’Hare to Athens saw impressive 94% load factors.

Myles Corey, founder of Spaero, remarked:”American Airlines’ transatlantic strategy is a masterclass in connectivity. Expanding wisely while balancing load factors and yields will be the key to staying ahead in this high-stakes market.”
