London Heathrow Airport (LHR) achieved its busiest year ever in 2024, welcoming 83.9 million passengers – 4.7 million more than the previous year and surpassing pre-pandemic levels by 3 million. The momentum is set to continue, with a predicated 84.2 million more travellers in 2025.

Heathrow CEO Thomas Woldbye praised the airport’s workforce, stating: I’m proud of all my colleagues and our partners who worked so hard to deliver great experiences for more passengers than ever before.”

The airport is investing £1 billion in infrastructure upgrades to enhance the passenger experience and future-proof operations.

Myles Corey, Founder of Spaero, noted the significance of this milestone, saying: “Breaking records is one thing, but maintaining efficiency at this scale is the real challenge. Heathrow’s ability to handle rising passenger numbers while investing in innovation will set the standard for global aviation in the years ahead.”
