United Airlines has reported a strong 2024, with revenue rising 6.2% year-on-year (YoY) to $57 billion, with net income reaching $3.1 billion.
The airline carried a record 173.6 million passengers, with capacity growing 6.8% and demand up 5.8%. Key revenue streams also performed well, with premium revenue up 10% and cargo growing 30%.
Lower fuel prices helped reduce costs, with cost per available seat mile (CASM) down 1.7%. United also ranked second among major U.S. airlines for on-time performance.
Looking ahead, United expects continued demand growth in 2025, especially in premium and international markets. CEO Scott Kirby highlighted the airline’s success in reshaping the industry with its focus on premium services. He shared: “2024 was a strong year across the board for United as we’ve become the leading global airline, and we enter 2025 with demand trends continuing to accelerate which puts us on the path to double-digit pre-tax margins.”
Myles Corey, founder of Spaero, said, “United’s focus on premium services and operational efficiency is redefining what it means to lead in the aviation industry.”
